Are Agent Leads Worth It?

One of the biggest questions that you probably get from your agents is what you provide. Do you provide leads? Do you provide training? Do you provide any in-house services like training and transaction management?

First, let’s look at some reasons not to buy your agents leads. First of all, not every agent can convert leads equally. Everybody’s different, and some agents are really good at follow-up on the phone. Some agents are way better in person, while some agents are even better in email. There’s no perfect system to convert those leads. 

Putting A System In Place

I’ve seen countless agents, friends, and brokerages buy their agents leads. However, almost every single time, it has not worked out—and they’ve lost money. I’m not saying that buying leads is a bad thing. If you are going to buy leads, though, you have to have great systems in place for agents to monetize those leads. 

The most important thing that you need is a great accountability system to make sure that your agents are following up the way that they’re supposed to. If you’re going to go ahead and buy those leads, you have to have systems in place so you don’t have to rely on your agents to convert those leads on the road. 

Building A Brand

For us, we always found that it was way more important for an agent to build their own brand. The lead is only going to be as good as the execution on the other end. The only thing that I have seen that has worked throughout every brokerage and every agent is when they market their own database and build their own brand. 

So be wary of buying leads for your agents, because sometimes it does more harm than good.
